Chasing and Repousse

Taught by Jayne Redman

October 10-11, 2009 from 10am-5pm at Monnda Welch's studio in Pittsboro.

Cost: $200 for members (you must be a member to participate).  Add $20 to your fee to join NCSG.

Chasing and repousse are two ancient techniques used to embellish the surface of metal objects. They are often used in conjunction; pushing the metal up from beneath (repousse) and down from the top (chasing). Traditionally, bas-relief surfaces are created. In this workshop we will examine the traditional applications along with (those who have taken a workshop with me knew this was coming) non-traditional applications. We will explore the implementation of chasing and repousse for three dimensional forms such as vessels and beads, allowing our creativity and inventiveness to dictate possibilities.

Come join us for another informative and fun workshop with Jayne Redman to learn more creative ways to express yourself. Register soon as this will fill up fast! Maximum Participants: 10 persons

This is an Intermediate Level workshop. Basic metalsmithing skills including soldering are prerequisite.
